Philadelphia @ Albany (-8.5, 88.5) | Saturday: 6 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network

Who is playing quarterback for the Philadelphia Soul this week? That should be the only question bettors are asking themselves. Even if the question is answered, be it Greg McGhee, Shane Austin or someone else, is it a team you want to back at this point? They’ve lost four out of five games, have no identity on offense and that’s leading to a lot of pressure on the shoulders of their defense. If it is Austin, his inconsistency at the position got him benched earlier in the season for Washington and he threw two picks last week against his former team. Against the best scoring defense in the league it is due to be a long day.

The Empire is coming off of a disappointing loss to the Brigade, and should be due for a bounce back performance at home. Albany is in a race with Baltimore for the top spot in the AFL as the season winds down, and the team can not afford to take a week off. Tommy Grady and his selection of weapons will have to face a solid defense in Philadelphia, the second-best scoring unit behind Albany themselves. Should the Soul get any semblance of an offense this weekend their defense has the horses to matchup with the Empire offense, but it’s a big ask for an inconsistent unit.

It’s a somewhat large number, and an even lower total, but I think laying the points and going under is the way to go here. Really it comes down to what team, specifically what offense, is showing up for Philadelphia. Until a bettor sees back-to-back weeks of consistent performances it’s hard to place your hard-earned cash on Philadelphia. Expect the Empire defense to have a great day pressuring whoever lines up under center for the Soul, and limit the unit to a low scoring day. Albany should win this one going away, but due to the lack of offense from their opponent it will be coming under the total.

PICK: Albany, Under
