Pick-six and a milestone tackle highlight the linebacker’s award-winning performance

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Arena Football League announced today that Washington Valor linebacker Alvin Ray Jackson has been named Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Columbus Destroyers in Week 5.

Jackson recorded five total tackles (four solo) and a pivotal interception, which he returned for a touchdown, on the first play of the second half. The score kickstarted a Valor comeback, leading to a 29-27 win. Jackson’s second solo tackle of the game, which occurred with just over six minutes remaining in the second quarter, marked the 400th of his career.

A nine-year AFL veteran, Jackson is playing in his second season with the Valor and currently leads the team with 23.5 total tackles. The Albany State alumnus was named First Team All-Arena (LB) in 2012, 2015 and 2017 and was a part of Washington’s ArenaBowl XXXI victory in 2018.
