AFL AWARDS WEEK 9 PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

LAS VEGAS – The Arena Football League has announced that Baltimore Brigade’s quarterback Randy Hippeard and Washington Valor’s defensive back Fred Obi have been named as the offensive and defensive players of the week for Week 9, respectively.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Hippeard (6’3, 230, Virginia Wise) completed 29-of-37 passes with one interception for 270 yards and eight touchdowns in Baltimore’s 59-56 win over the Albany Empire. The win gave Hippeard and the Brigade sole possession of first-place with four games to go in the regular season. The reigning AFL MVP currently leads the League in pass completion percentage (71.9%) and pass completions (187).

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Obi (6’1, 190, San Diego) tallied three total tackles, one pass breakup, and two interceptions in the Valor’s 49-48 win over the Philadelphia Soul. In his first game with the Valor this season, Obi came up with a clutch interception with 18 seconds left in the game to insure the Valor’s first win of the season. Obi started 2018 with the Brigade where he recorded 16 total tackles, one pass breakup, one pass defended, and one fumble recovery in three games.
