Grady leads Empire to five-game winning streak, as Stevenson helps snap Soul’s losing streak
LAS VEGAS – The Arena Football League has announced that Albany Empire’s quarterback Tommy Grady and Philadelphia Soul’s defensive back LaRico Stevenson have been named as the offensive and defensive players of the week for Week 8, respectively.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Grady (6’7, 245, Utah) completed 19-of-30 passes for 248 yards and eight touchdowns in the Empire’s 61-53 win over the Baltimore Brigade. The former Ute has gone 137-of-211 passes for 1,653 yards, four interceptions, and 42 touchdowns in seven games. Grady leads the League in passing yards and passing touchdowns.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Stevenson (5’11, 205, West Georgia) recorded 5.5 total tackles, 0.5 tackles for a loss, and returned an interception for a 43 yard touchdown in the Soul’s 51-46 win over the Washington Valor. On the season, the eight-year veteran has tallied 11.5 total tackles, one interception, and one pass defended. Stevenson’s 43 yard interception return is the longest of 2018.
