Valor Host Gladiators Saturday at Verizon Center

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Valor are back at home this weekend, hosting the Cleveland Gladiators on Saturday, July 29 at 7 p.m. at Verizon Center. With just two weeks remaining in the regular season, the Valor are still in the hunt for a playoff berth and will look to improve their odds with a win this weekend. This will be the third matchup this season between the two teams and the second at Verizon Center. Cleveland won the first such meeting despite 292 yards and four touchdowns from Valor QB Sean Brackett.

VALOR PLAYER TO WATCH: WR T.T. TOLIVER – Valor WR T.T. Toliver has gathered six touchdowns in his last three outings, including three last week, which earned him Week 16 AFL Offensive Player of the Week. The 14-year veteran now has eight game-winning touchdowns in the last minute or overtime. Toliver caught a touchdown in the Valor’s Week 4 matchup with the Gladiators, but missed the teams’ Week 9 game due to injury.

GLADIATORS PLAYER TO WATCH: QB ARVELL NELSON – The Gladiators offense runs through QB Arvell Nelson, who poses a threat both in the air and on the ground. Nelson has thrown for 2,877 yards and 55 touchdowns while leading the league with 221 rushing yards and ranking second with 12 rushing touchdowns. Nelson has accounted for 10 total touchdowns (eight passing, two rushing) in two games against Washington this season.

MATCHUP TO WATCH: VALOR QB SEAN BRACKETT VS. GLADIATORS DB FRED OBI – Brackett was named game MVP for his five-touchdown performance last weekend against Baltimore and now has exactly four passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown in each of his last three games. In his one game against Cleveland this season, Brackett threw for 292 yards and four touchdowns. Across the line of scrimmage, DB Fred Obi sets the tone for the Cleveland defense, ranking fifth in the league with 49 solo tackles to go along with three interceptions.
