Soul to Hold an Open Tryout on November 4

PHILADELPHIA – The back-to-back ArenaBowl Champion Philadelphia Soul will host an open tryout on Saturday, November 4 at Total Turf Experience located at 614 Lambs Road in Pitman, NJ. Registration will begin at 8 a.m., with stretching starting at 9 a.m. Soul Head Coach Clint Dolezel, General Manager Phil Bogle, Defensive Backs Coach Bernie Nowotarski and staff will be evaluating all players in attendance.

Every season, the Soul have found players at the tryouts that have been invited to training camp. The most notable Soul players signed at open tryouts over the years include: Ryan McDaniel, Tommy Frevert, Harvey Binford, Poppy Livers and John Sheehy. In five seasons with the Soul, McDaniel racked up 425 receptions for 5,094 yards and 108 touchdowns. Livers, Sheehy and McDaniel were all part of the Soul’s 2017 championship season.

A pre-registration fee of $65 can be applied using PayPal at before Friday, November 3 at 3 p.m. Registration after that time and the day of will require an application fee of $80 (cash or cashier’s check only). A t-shirt will be included in the cost and all fees are non-refundable.

Players will be tested on their 40-yard time and short shuttle with other position-specific drills and one-on-ones to follow. Please bring appropriate workout gear and shoes/cleats. Testing will take place on field turf – no metal cleats are permitted. All positions will be evaluated in tryouts- QB, WR, FB, DB, LB, DL & OL and K. A trainer will be on hand for emergencies only – not for player taping.
