BALTIMORE – The Arena Football League announced today that Baltimore Brigade DL Robert Hayes has been named Week 18’s Defensive Player of the Week. Hayes recorded three tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in the Brigade’s 41-35 loss to the Washington Valor.
Hayes’ defining play came with just over nine minutes remaining in the third quarter with Washington driving into Baltimore territory. Hayes sacked Valor QB Warren Smith, forced and recovered a fumble, protecting a one-score Brigade lead. Hayes ranks second in the AFL this season with 11 tackles for loss and fourth in the league with eight sacks – both of which are single-season career highs.
