Moss named General Manager and Assistant Head Coach

ALBANY– The Albany Empire announce that four-time ArenaBowl Champion, Les Moss, will return to the Empire coaching staff for the 2019 season.  Moss will serve as the General Manager and Assistant Head Coach for the team under Head Coach Rob Keefe.  Moss will also resume his Offensive Coordinator duties.

“I am very humbled and excited to be back with the Empire,” said Moss. “I love this organization and working under coach Keefe.  Arena football is what I know and love, and it’s what I’ve worked my entire career at.  Last season was a great success, but we have unfinished business. I am honored to come back and apply the lessons that we learned from last year to win a championship this year!”

Moss brings decades of AFL experience to Albany.  Last season, he served as the Empire’s Assistant Head Coach and called plays on field for the league’s highest scoring offense in their inaugural year.  Before coming to the Capital Region, Moss spent 2010-2016 with the Jacksonville Sharks as the team’s head coach. During his tenure, the Sharks posted a 77-54 overall record and reached the playoffs six of the seven seasons.  In 2010, Moss was named AFL Coach of the Year before winning an ArenaBowl in Jacksonville in 2011.

“We were lucky enough to have Coach Keefe locked up for another year and with that done, I trust in him to identify and bring in the coaches he needs to build upon our inaugural season’s success and build a dynasty here,” said George Manias, Vice President of Business operations for the Albany Empire.

“Coach Moss’ leadership and his commitment to excellence is unparallel,” said Keefe. “In the time I have spent in this league, I have never met someone with his drive, determination, and hunger to win.  It was a no-brainer for us to bring him back and lock him up for the 2019 season as we work to get over the hump and bring a championship back to Albany.”

“I would like to thank Trifecta Sports and Entertainment, Mr. Hearst, Mr. Swyer, Mr. Nolan, John Adams, George Manias, our community partners, and the fanbase,” said Moss. “Lastly, none of this would have been possible if Coach Keefe didn’t reach out to me when he was hired to start of this all up!”
