Bogle Awarded Assistant Coach of the Year

PHILADELPHIA – The Arena Football League today announced that Soul Assistant Head Coach/General Manager Phil Bogle has been awarded Assistant Coach of the Year for the 2017 season

“No one deserves this award more than Phil and I have really enjoyed working alongside with him over the past three seasons,” said Soul head coach, Clint Dolezel. “He has had a great deal of responsibility, both on field and off the field and has handled everything with poise and professionalism. Big things are coming for Phil and I look forward to seeing what his future holds.”

During his time as a coach, the Soul have made five post-season runs, won two conference championships and has coached a total of twelve All-Arena players. Bogle was responsible for five All-Arena players this season (Mykel Benson, Wayne Tribue, Sean Daniels, Justin Lawrence and Beau Bell). LB Beau Bell also led the league in sacks (13.0) and was awarded Defensive Player of the Year for 2017. He coached an offensive line that ranked first in fewest sacks against (7), a recognition that the team has held for the past few seasons.

Bogle played as a lineman for the Soul in 2007-08. He won All-Rookie team and First-team All-Arena in 2007. In 2008, he won First-Team All-Arena again and the ArenaBowl XXII Championship. He was also a finalist for the League’s Lineman of the Year award. In 2010, Bogle played for the Dallas Vigilantes and recorded four receptions for 19 yards and one touchdown. He also spent time in the CFL with the Montreal Alouettes (2009), in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2006, 2008), Cleveland Browns (2005), San Diego Chargers (2003) and in NFL Europe with the Hamburg Sea Devils (2006).
